Mutton Fat Jade Porcelain is a unique porcelain style from Dehua (Fujian) that is aesthetically pleasing but also has excellent heat retention and is completely non-porous.  The look of Mutton Fat Jade Porcelain 羊脂玉 is startling and pleasing with a matte look.  It s not a glazing technique, the entire piece is the same material inside and out.  The matte finish is also hydrophobic so water quickly moves off the outside.  

Mutton Fat Jade Porcelain is excellent for teas that benefit from excellent heat retention when brewing.  We have found it brews these teas the best:

• Oolong Tea (Tie Guan Yin, Taiwan Oolongs, Dan Cong, Wu Yi Rock Oolongs)
• Pu-erh Tea (Ripe and Raw)
• Black Tea (if brewing Jin Jun Mei or other smaller leaf black teas use 85-90C water)
• White Tea (all types)
• Hei Cha (all types)
